UNDERPINNINGS.
Landscapes. Territories. Skin. From our beginnings in Detroit, Michigan, we continue to search to find critical and relevant solutions via experimental overlay and consideration of influences. We consider social, political, historical, physical, poetic, tangible, tectonic inputs that collectively play a role in revisioning the urban setting. We are fascinated by the textures of the micro and macro landscapes; by the idea of the body infinitely extended by layers of architectural clothing; and by the amplification of spatial and material ambiguities.
We offer this visual stream of consciousness to articulate the roots of our investigations. We find it useful to look critically at a range of influences from historical and contemporary culture as well as work produced by others. By importing our understanding of these references into our work, we engage in a reflective and evolving practice that remains open, fluid, rooted by the desire for experimentation and speculation.
